Physician Assistant
Tessa Garst, PA-C
Tessa A. Garst holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Nutrition from North Carolina State University, where she first discovered her passion for the medical field. This interest grew through hands-on roles as a Medical Assistant in a family practice setting and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at UNC Rex Hospital, where she worked with a diverse patient population. These experiences inspired her to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant, leading her to complete a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from South College in Knoxville, Tennessee, in December 2024.
During her clinical rotations, Tessa gained extensive experience across multiple specialties, including Emergency Medicine, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Women’s Health, and Psychiatry. She also had the privilege of working closely with a Gastrointestinal surgeon during her General Surgery rotation, which deepened her understanding of gastrointestinal care and its impact on patients’ lives. This experience solidified her desire to specialize in this field.
Tessa is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and holds an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. She is also a proud member of the Pi Alpha Honor Society, the national honor society for Physician Assistants, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from South College’s Physician Assistant Program.
Outside of her professional life, Tessa enjoys running, exploring new workout classes, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and continually expanding her medical knowledge and skills.
