Imad Nakshabendi, MD, PhD
Dr. Imad Nakshabendi is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist with more than 30 years of experience in the field of gastroenterology.
Dr. Nakshabendi earned his medical degree from the University of Baghdad and his PhD from the University of Glasgow, where his research focused on small intestinal mucosal function and its relationship to disease. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South Florida in 2000 and established Florida Advanced Gastroenterology Center in 2007.
Throughout his career, Dr. Nakshabendi has performed more than 50,000 gastrointestinal procedures and has extensive experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), and ERCP. He also provides minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment for internal hemorrhoids using rubber band ligation.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Nakshabendi has a longstanding interest in research and medical education. His work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, including Gastroenterology, Gut, and the American Journal of Physiology.
Dr. Nakshabendi is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and a member of professional organizations including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Royal College of Physicians. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
Today, Dr. Nakshabendi practices alongside his son, Dr. Rahman Nakshabendi, and remains committed to providing patients with timely, comprehensive and compassionate gastrointestinal care.
